Just to keep track of my first journey with an internet project I decided to write regular updates.
When I started with the preparation of this project I can’t really say. But it must have been around somewhere in September 2012. I started to build my blog, choose my theme and install and customize the plugins.
Next I made a list of blog articles I was going to write. I did my keyword research using Market Samurai nad Micro Niche Finder, my article research using the Lead Tools of Webfire and around the same time I started to write those blog articles. At first I kept an eye on having a keyword density of 1 – 2%.
Soon I thought these articles looked a bit spammy and I did a research on keyword density. What I found was that keyword density wasn’t that important. So I just kept an eye on having my keywords in the title, the description, H1 tag, the meta keyword list and at least one or two times in the text.
I didn’t pay much attention to external links although I added them where I thought they were suitable. Actually I treated affiliate links the same. I didn’t pay much attention to internal links since there were not enough articles yet.
I published my first blog post on December 14. 2012: Introduction and Overview: Starting An Internet Business. From there on I published two new blog posts every week.
On January 5. 2013 I checked page ranks for every keyword I had used (main and secondary) using the Site Rank Checker of Webfire. I found I ranked for three keywords. Not the best ones I have to admit. They hardly get traffic according to Google keyword tool:
start an internet business with no money (18)
Reasons for starting an internet business (15)
how to start an internet business with no money (24)
I pinned the pictures from my blog on a pinterest pinboard and bought on fiverr.com 100+ Pinterest followers.
No reaction on Google Analytics.
January 9. 2013
I bought 19’000+ Pinterest repins of five of my pictures on Fiverr. No significant reaction in Google Analytics.
January 11. 2013
I bought 80 Facebook likes on Fiverr for five of my blog posts each. Well, they delivered only 70 likes in total and I got my money back.
January 13. 2013
I got 51 visits on January 12 and 22 visits on January 13.
I answered 7 questions on Wiki Answers.
January 14. 2013
22 visits and my rankings went slightly down:
start an internet business with no money (20)
Reasons for starting an internet business (15)
how to start an internet business with no money (25)
Up to now I had 80 unique visitors to my site. Of course most if not all of them came from the likes I had bought on Fiverr.
I answered 4 questions on Wiki Answers and 2 questions on Yahoo Answers.
January 15. 2013
82 unique visitors.
I tried another 80 Facebook likes on Fiverr for five of my blog posts each using the refunds from before.
The bottom line is that up to now none of my marketing efforts seemed to have much effekt. Maybe they help in the long term but they don’t get the ball rolling. The visitors I got to my site stem mostly from the likes I bought. They are not “real” visitors.
After a month I wouldn’t say that this blog is rocking.
